The recently formed G6 shipping alliance is to commence services linking Asia and Europe from the first week of March.

The alliance was formed by the amalgamation of the New World Alliance and the Grand Alliance and includes carriers APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui OSK, Hapag-Lloyd, NYK and OOCL, website Logisticsmanager.com has reported.

It will launch six services linking Europe and Asia, with a seventh to follow if viable.

In addition to its existing Asia-Mediterranean Express service, the alliance plans to introduce a new Asia-Black Sea Express service in the first week of April, the website reported.
