The Greenery Holland Vegetable Selection

Leading fresh produce supplier The Greenery has begun a six-month trial in collaboration with three leading Dutch retailers on a new range of convenience vegetable packs.

The new Dutch Vegetable Selection range, which includes six different types of locally grown, whole-head vegetables, is due to land on supermarket shelves today in a total of 14 stores belonging to Plus, Coop and Super de Boer.

According to a spokesman for The Greenery, each of the packs contains approximately two servings (400g) and, as such, are aimed at young couples without children.

'The vegetables have been carefully selected to provide two portions of vegetables that are easy to prepare for use in salads or quick dishes like stir fries,' the spokesman told Fruitnet.com.

With recipe suggestions printed on the packs, the range is also aimed at increasing awareness of vegetable varieties and encouraging people to use them more frequently when preparing meals.

'Our consumer research has shown that a lot of consumers don't know how to prepare some of these whole-head products, so hopefully the Dutch Vegetable Selection will go some way towards changing this,' the spokesman added.

The range includes: celery, leeks, chicory, red cabbage, green cauliflower and Chinese cabbage.
