AREFLH

The general meeting of AREFLH, the assembly of European regions producing fruit, vegetables and plants, is scheduled to take place on 8-9 March this year, in Sint-Truiden, Belgium.

According to AREFLH, the main issues up for discussion at the meeting will be crisis management, the current state of fruit and vegetable consumption, the creation of the European olive oil network and the creation of a transnational AOP (association of producer organisations).

For the first time, the organisation's two Greek regions, West Macedonia and Central Macedonia, will reportedly be present, following their membership in December last year.

According to AREFLH, these two regions produce approximately 90 per cent of the country's peach and nectarine volumes, in addition to kiwifruit, apricots, cherries, plums and asparagus.
