Coinciding with the Global Berry Congress held in London this week, Total Berry has announced the formation of a new specialist raspberry tri-partnership, African Red.

Some 50ha have been planted in Moulay Bousselham in Morocco by Agrogailes, which has links with Surexport in Spain and Total Berry in the UK.

"It will significantly increase the availability of the proven premier varieties Radiance and Grandeur which have been developed through our association with US breeder Plant Sciences International," said Total Berry director Ian Waller.

"It reflects our policy of developing an internationally integrated grower base focussed on supplying UK customers with a year long supply of premium varieties selected for their eating quality and sweet flavour.
