Dole Europe has announced the launch of Dole Earth, a new website available in English and German that enables visitors to track bananas back to their source.

All Dole bananas in northern Europe will now bear a sticker with a five-digit code, which can be entered into the website to locate the farm on which the fruit was produced.

Visitors to the site can then learn about the production process "as if they had walked through the farm on a guided tour", Dole said in a press release, and meet some of the workers.

"There is a tremendous consumer interest and curiosity about fruit and specifically bananas," said Xavier Roussel, Dole Europe's marketing and communication director. "With Dole Earth, we are making our production and supply chain fully transparent to consumers."
