Slovenian grocery retailer Mercator has announced that it has hired Toni Balažic as its new chief executive officer.
According to Planet Retail Balažic, CEO of the bread and pasta firm Žito, will take over from Žiga Debeljak on 1 June 2012.
Debeljak stepped down – along with other members of the Board – in March, citing a loss of trust in the majority shareholders following conflicting views on the sale of Mercator to its biggest rival Croatia's Agrokor.
