A spokesman for the Jordanian fruit and vegetable exporters association, Ghaith Abdul Rahman, has announced that exports to Israel increased by 650 per cent during the first five months of this year, according to Alghad.com.

The report revealed that exports of Jordanian fruit and vegetables to Israel amounted to nearly 9,000 tonnes compared with 1,200 tonnes during the same period last year.

The spokesperson added that total exports of fruit and vegetables had fallen from 517,500 tonnes in the first five months of last year to some 424,500 tonnes this year.

He attributed this decline in part to a drop in exports to Iraq as a result of the halting of Iraqi imports in the first two months of the year and since April.
