Kuehne + Nagel, the Switzerland-based logistics company, has appointed industry veteran Peter Ulber to the group's International AG Management Board to replace Reinhard Lange.

Mt Ulber, 48, has been with the company since 1983 and occupied a variety of roles within the group's North American sector, before being appointed as regional director of the South America region in 1988. In 2001 he was handed the role of national manager for the UK, with the position expanding to incorporate Scandinavia and Ireland in 2006.

'For many years Peter Ulber has successfully held a number of key management positions within our company,' said executive chairman of the board of directors Klaus-Michael Kuehne. 'With his broad logistics know-how and professional experience he will excellently complement our corporate management team.'

Mr Lange is vacating the role to take up hi new position as group chief executive officer on 1 January 2009.
