Fresh produce prices fall at Auchan
French retailer sees drops for both fruit and vegetables through the months of July and August
Auchan is lowering the prices of its fresh fruit and vegetables, with average prices for both categories falling through July and August this year.
According to Fld, average fruit prices fell 0.6 per cent through the two-month period, while average vegetable prices tumbled by 2.7 per cent.
Auchan explained that the lower prices were part of an ongoing drive, first launched in April, to ensure that 14 fruit and vegetable items are available at less than one euro.
The fresh products registering the biggest fall in price during July and August were strawberries (down 15.9 per cent) potatoes, nectarines, peaches and apricots.
