Italian brand Melinda is aiming to boost sales of its apples well into next year with a new video advertisement that highlights the appeal of the fruit as a snack in summer.
The video, which features a bikini-clad model enjoying one of Melinda's Golden Delicious apples as she bathes in a swimming pool atop Italy's Ligurian coast, is not due to be aired in the spring of 2014 but was posted on the company's Facebook page ahead of its official launch.
'Melinda, even in summer I like you more,' says the voiceover as freshly picked apples are plucked from the harvesters' hands and delivered to the model in the pool.
According to a spokesperson for the group, harvest scenes for the advertisement were filmed in the Val di Non in Trentino during September last year, while the final scene was put together in Sestri Levante, close to Genoa, Portofino and the Cinque Terre.
Although it is not entirely clear who the model herself is, the other people featured in the advertisement are said to be members of some of the 5,000 families that belong to the Melinda consortium.
