AU Field Fresh Tasmania onions

The new lines will be gentler on the product, Field Fresh said

Leading Australian onion grower-packer-marketer Field Fresh Tasmania has unveiled an A$1.8m (US$1.6m) equipment upgrade at its packhouse in North Western Tasmania.

This includes new pre-cleaning equipment, a multi-screen grading line, new toppers and pre-packer to meet customer and consumer demands.

Field Fresh chief executive officer John Hosken said the investment was aimed at improving the packhouse’s capabilities through modernisation, quality enhancement and the automation of production processes.

“Our Onion Factory upgrade has been customer led to ensure we consistently deliver the highest standard and grade of product quality to our global and local markets,” Hosken said.

“We have benchmarked global best practice from industry leaders in Europe and USA, sourcing and implementing world class operational capabilities. Our new onion line is designed to deliver more efficient processing and at the same time be gentler and softer on the product.”
