Univeg has signed an exclusive global partnership agreement with Ebrex Cruise Services (ECS) to supply fresh produce, flowers and plants to the cruise industry, giving the Belgian produce giant access to the growing cruise ship market.
“Both parties have recognised the increasing demand for high quality, safe fruit and vegetables in the growing cruise industry and are combining their expertise to optimally serve this market,” Univeg’s CEO Francis Kint said. “Univeg Trade Italy will act as coordinator within the Univeg group to bring together the optimal basket of seasonal, high quality fresh fruit and vegetables, bio products and flowers and plants, as well as the needed supply chains towards European and South American ports.”
ECS, a provider of logistics services and supplies to the cruise industry in the Mediterranean and other major worldwide ports, said the deal would enable it to strengthen its fresh food offer and provide tailor-made menus to its customer base and to ensure excellent quality and service.
ECS will offer various fresh food categories during the summer season in southern and northern Europe and during the winter season in South America.
