Walmart’s senior director of global food sourcing in Peru, Ross Farnsworth, will take part in an in-depth discussion about the future development of international markets for the South American country’s fresh produce exports during the upcoming Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere 2014 in Lima, it has been confirmed.

Farnsworth will offer delegates valuable insight into the potential evolution of fresh produce sourcing in Peru and Latin America as a whole, drawing on more than 25 years' experience in the retail business – during which time he has worked in the US, Mexico, Argentina, China, Thailand and Peru for prominent retail companies including Walmart, Tesco and Casino.

In his current role, he leads the US giant’s Latin American sourcing team from Lima, overseeing the development of food procurement on behalf of the Walmart and Sam's Club banners.

During the conference, Farnsworth will be joined by Mayda Sotomayor of Univeg subsidiary Seald Sweet, José Antonio Gomez of Peruvian exporter Camposol and José Antonio Castro of another Peruvian supplier, Agrokasa. Together, they will assess the interest currently being shown in Peru’s rapidly growing produce export trade, identify the challenges it faces in meeting new demand and comment on how it can capitalise on emerging opportunities.

Buyers from around the world are set to join producers, exporters and marketers at this year’s Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere, which returns to the Peruvian capital Lima for a two-day conference and networking event on 6-7 November 2014.

Eurofruit’s leading fresh produce conference for Southern Hemisphere suppliers will offer in-depth analysis of Peru’s rapidly expanding role in the international fresh produce arena, bringing together trade experts from around the world and key players from the country’s fruit and vegetable industry to discuss new opportunities for the Latin American supplier.

The event will also offer unparalleled opportunities to network with buyers, marketers and suppliers.
