The old Seacat berth at the Port of Dover has begun to be demolished in what is described as the first stage of a project that will be 'a catalyst for the regeneration of Dover'.

A spokesperson for the port said the work, at the former hovercraft berth, marks the start of the multi-million pound Dover Western Docks Revival project. The demolition is due to be completed by the end of the year.

A new cargo terminal is set to be built at the site in the next few years.

Tim Waggott, the port's chief executive, told BBC News: 'This is a significant milestone as we continue regenerating the port.'
