Dutch berry giant Driscoll’s has donated €23,134 to domestic violence charity Safegroup after sponsoring 115 staff in a Breda running event.

The company sponsored each runner €100, while business relations, family, friends and employees were also offered the chance to donate.

Dutch charity Safegroup offers women and children who are victims of domestic violence a safe place to go. Safegroup managing director, Jan de Werd, said: “We are very happy with this beautiful donation and will use the money to redecorate the garden of our Valkenhorst shelter.”

Theo Houwen, senior vice president and managing director of Driscoll’s of EMEA, said he was proud of the result. “As a company we believe it is important to give something back to the community. By supporting local projects, such as the Safegroup, we can really contribute to the world around us.”
