French grocery retailer Carrefour has released its results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2014, with organic sales growth of 4.1 per cent and 3.9 per cent respectively.

For the full 12 months, the group saw sales reach €84bn, with domestic French organic growth of 1.2 per cent across all formats, and growth of 5.9 per cent internationally, where Brazil and Argentina posted 'remarkable' years. Indeed, Brazil's organic sales jumped 11.9 per cent year-on-year.

Other European countries saw sales fall 0.3 per cent, while Asia was a struggle, as organic sales dropped 1.8 per cent.

'Overall in 2014, non-food sales are in positive territory for the first time in six years, while food sales accelerated their growth,' the group said.

For the fourth quarter alone, sales came in at €22.6bn, with new growth in organic French sales and a 6.6 per cent improvement in international sales – including a 'clear improvement' in Europe and an 'excellent performance' in Latin America.
