Capespan Group has officially rebranded Aspen International Services, the logistics service provider in which it acquired a 75 per cent stake last year, as Contour Logistics.

The announcement effectively confirms that Capespan has received regulatory approval for the deal, which allows the South Africa-based fresh produce marketer to offer its customers in-house logistical expertise once again following the unexpected departure of Deon Joubert and other former executives to form a rival service provider in partnership with Lonrho Logistics.

Contour managing director Mariaan Rademan said the company would maintain a “stellar” clearing andforwarding track record by offering clients “extraordinary attention to detail, attentiveness to needs andfollow-through on commitments”.

She continued: “We aim to make Contour Logistics an industry household name, while ensuring our customers receive a unique, quality and cost-efficient service at all times. At the same time, we’ll be at theforefront of developments regarding destination requirements and make sure each consignment delivery issuccessful.”

Rademan said the division’s combined management team had 125 years’ experience in thelogistics and freight forwarding industry.

“As before, we’ll be building and nurturing strong, long-term personal relationships across all platforms, while also enhancing our systems to provide a more streamlined and transparent service.”

Contour has already set about repositioning the Capespan Group’s erstwhile fruit logistics division as a relevant logistical services organisation with the ultimate goal of providing customers with the best access to global markets.

Based in Cape Town and with offices in Port Elizabeth and Durban, the company is known for facilitating direct fruit exports from South Africa.
