IT Campoverde

Italian fresh produce supplier Alegra, part of Apo Conerpo Group business unit Agrintesa, has signed a new deal with Calabrian co-operative Osas to market a range of products including stonefruit and citrus.

In a move that confirms a continued trend towards consolidation in Italy’s fresh produce supply base, the Faenza-based company will work with Osas’ commercial arm Campoverde to sell peaches, nectarines, oranges and clementines, while also helping it to develop new production of kiwifruit.

“With this agreement, the two companies will pursue three main objectives: developing agronomic production, co-ordinating management and grouping supply through a single sales office,” explained Cristian Moretti, Alegra’s general manager.

Giuseppe Nola, president of Campoverde, added that the project would be explained in more detail during a meeting with producers and other stakeholders on 17 April.

This, he said, would include further information about plans to establish new production of green and yellow kiwifruit in Calabria.
“Our company has been in the Apo Conerpo Group’s orbit since the 90s, when we took part in the Campoverde Moc project, which initially covered Puglia and Basilicata,” Nola continued.

“Now, with globalisation requiring greater aggregation and concentration of supply, we are strengthening ourselves by collaborating with a structured company like Agrintesa.”
