Namibian grapes

South African fresh produce giant Capespan has invested some N$40m to develop 114ha of vineyards in Aussenkehr, Namibia.

National publication The Namibian spoke with Capepan managing director Andre Vermaak, who confirmed that the move was part of the extension agreement signed with the Namibian Grape Company in 2013.

The deal will see the financing and implementation of the additional 114ha of grapes and water supply, supplementing its existing 360ha.

Vermaak told The Namibian that Capespan has also invested N$11m in building a new cooling facility in Aussenkehr, which has already been finished.
