Frais d'Ici

Following the opening of a first grocery store last October in Portet-sur-Garonne, French cooperative In Vivo is set to open a second this autumn in urban Dijon, Végétable reported.

The shops, trading under the name Frais d’Ici (or “fresh from here”), stock mostly locally sourced products. 70 per cent of the products on sale in the Portet-sur Garonne outlet are sourced from 200 producers in the Midi-Pyrénées and Toulouse area.

According to a press release, the cooperative’s aim is to demonstrate the major role that farming coops can play in the field of distribution, “providing an alternative to the traditional supermarket”.

In addition to proximity, Frais d’Ici stressed its intention to promote taste, seasonality and fair prices, while encouraging customers to offer feedback on product choices.
