Prince de Bretagne’s 2015 crop of traditional French shallots has arrived ahead of schedule and is of exceptional quality, the grower-marketer said in a press release.
The crop was harvested in July and stored ahead of August’s damp weather, thus preserving quality, it said.
Yields are down this season due to drought conditions in spring and lower acreage devoted to the crop after two difficult seasons.
Packs are available in English and German for export markets, and come in 250g, 500g and 1kg net bags, 500g plaits and 5kg sacks carrying the Prince de Bretagne brand.
The group said it expects to market 600 tonnes of organic shallots this year.
