After all, the awards offer a chance to generate a huge impact in terms of public relations for very little effort; no need to bend over backwards to attract the media, because the international media are on the lookout.

As Messe Berlin, organiser of the Fruit Logistica trade fair, points out, the ten products nominated for the FLIA are showcased in a special area at its annual event in Berlin.

As such, they can count on receiving “sensational coverage”, with reports on those innovations featuring in thousands of reports across print, radio, television and online media worldwide. “It only takes you a couple of minutes to fill out application,” the group adds.

In the past decade, FLIA has earned itself a sizeable international reputation and is held in very high regard within the industry. It is therefore considered by many to be the global fruit and vegetable industry’s most important award, not least because the winner is judged by experts.

Picking out the best

In 2016, the eleventh FLIA award will again be presented by Messe Berlin and Fruchthandel Magazine for outstanding innovation in the fruit and vegetable business and its associated service industries.

That recognition is designed to honour those new products and services that have provided the industry with a noticeable boost.

Once a jury of experts has nominated the ten most significant innovations, those products or services will be displayed in a special exhibition area at Fruit Logistica, where more than 66,000 visitors are expected during the three days of the show on 3-5 February 2016.

Those visitors will be able to cast their vote for their preferred FLIA entrant, and the eventual winner will be announced and presented with their award at a special ceremony on 5 February.

Applications are open to all companies exhibiting at Fruit Logistica 2016 that have brought an exceptional innovation to market between 1 November 2014 and 31 October 2015.
