Coforta chairman Gerard Pronk will lead the search for Bert Jansen's successor

Two senior directors of Dutch fresh produce company The Greenery have left the organisation with immediate effect, the group has confirmed.

Chairman Bert Jansen and another board member, Mieke Bello, are understood to have tendered their resignations following apparent disagreement with other members of the group’s supervisory board over the company’s future direction.

Gerard Pronk, chairman of The Greenery’s producer co-operative Coforta, has been appointed as interim chairman and will lead the search for Jansen and Bello’s successors.

In a separate announcement, meanwhile, The Greenery has revealed it will close its North American sales office, located in Westampton, New Jersey, by the end of 2015.

The group’s commercial operations in North America, which markets mainly domestic and imported vegetables, will instead be managed from its Dutch head office in Barendrecht, near Rotterdam.

The Greenery has endured a challenging few years since 2010, suffering a decline in sales and profitability that prompted an extensive restructuring and various divestments across its business.
