The Netherlands' Food and Grocery Industry Federation (FNLI) has revealed that it intends to register a formal complaint against newly merged retailer Ahold-Delhaize for squeezing its suppliers, according to a report in newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad.

FNLI director Philip den Ouden told the paper that the country's largest supermarket chain was demanding concessions from suppliers following its merger with Belgium's Delhaize, in violation of Dutch industry behaviour codes, Reuters noted.

A spokeswoman for the FNLI stated that this was the first time the industry group, which represents food producers, had registered a complaint with a cross-industry association enforcing fair trade practices.
