T&G Global has recruited Frank Alluine into the new role of European varietal development manager. Based in France, Alluine will work alongside Marc Le Prince, T&G’s European manager.

Alluine, an agricultural engineer, has spent the past 12 years working for Blue Whale, a leading player in the French apple market. Alluine was head of sales for Blue Whale, where he held product responsibility in the French market.

“It’s great to be joining the Jazz and Envy success story,” said Alluine. “I’ve been meeting the local European team and recently met customers at Food Attraction in Madrid. I’m looking forward to meeting more of our growers and customers over the coming months.”

T&G Global’s executive general manager for pipfruit, Darren Drury, said he was delighted to have Alluine working for T&G from the Toulouse region, which is close to growers, reflecting T&G’s commitment to support customers in market.

“Frank’s appointment follows that of our other recent appointment, Joe Barsi, who is working closely with growers and customers in North America,” said Drury.

“France is a key market for T&G Global with Jazz and Envy performing extremely well. Having Frank in market will only strengthen our brands’ presence and further improve both customer and grower relations.”

Speaking to Fruitnet last month, Drury said that European and UK markets were the main global growth drivers for its Jazz apples. “We’re seeing a continual strong performance right across our customer base there,” he said. “Our Envy plantings are also starting to come into production. We’ve had some outstanding results with Envy – in terms of taste and feedback from consumers, so that’s really exciting for us as well.”
