International prepared and convenience food specialist Bakkavor Group has announced the appointment of Yvette Sowerby as its new technical director.
Sowerby has extensive technical experience with both food manufacturing and retail customers, joining Bakkavor from Sainsbury’s where she enjoyed roles as head of technical for both chilled foods and packaged foods.
Prior to this, she worked in a number of senior technical roles including two separate appointments at Marks & Spencer’s spanning a total of 20 years.
In her new role, Sowerby will be part of the UK operational team but will also use her expertise to provide technical support to Bakkavor’s US and Asia operations.
“I am delighted to welcome Yvette to Bakkavor,' said Mike Edwards, chief operating officer UK. 'I am confident that her expertise will prove of significant value as we continue to drive the technical standards across our business.”
Sowerby added: “Having worked with Bakkavor in previous roles, I now look forward to joining the business as it continues to target growth both in the UK and internationally.”
