International fresh produce machinery and technology specialist Unitec Group has launched Unical 8.0, an innovation developed to specifically meet the needs and requirements for grading apples.
The Unisorting-branded technology has been designed to be 100 per cent sanitizable, a trait the company claims is a world first.
Along with internal quality and external characteristics classification, Unical 8.0 also sorts apples according to a combination of these parameters, in order to create new product classes.
Paired with Unitec’s Apples Sort vision system, the platform is equipped with high-resolution cameras, which the company says ensures unprecedented accuracy in selection.
“Our technology is non-invasive and can examine and combine an extraordinary complexity of parameters, including size, colour, shape, integrity, degree of ripeness, internal and external defects, sourness, dry matter and Brix,” says Angelo Benedetti, president of Unitec Group.
Unitec will have information on the new solution at their stand at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong this September.
