Hamburg-based software provider Agiles has expanded the reach of its AgilesFood business by setting up a foreign branch in Barcelona.
The new division, agilesFood Iberia, will bring the company in closer contact with Spain’s major wholesale markets (in Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid), as well as Spanish producers, customers and prospective customers.
This will allow agiles to strengthen its market-oriented strategy and deliver “higher quality consultation and deeper understanding of how their needs can be met”, the software provider wrote in a press release.
The agilesFood Iberia business, which provides IT solutions for fresh food companies in
batch accounting, traceability, best before dates, order processing and packaging, has already begun working with clients.
The first among these since the expansion was fresh produce distributor Prats Fruits, which will soon update its software to AgilesFood 2017. The software firm has also scheduled “additional on-site projects” with the Barcelona-based business.
Commenting on the expansion of the business, agiles chief executive Christian Sega said: “There has been strong demand for software tailored to the needs of the fruit and vegetable trade in the Spanish market.' He said he was therefore “highly satisfied” with the combination of “a proven industry solution, local proximity and a cultural approach.”
Jordi Calavera, CEO of AgilesFood Iberia, added: “We are certain that, with the quality of the agilesFood software and our experience in the food sector, we will deliver the added value that the sector deserves.”
