NZ Gala

Leading Indian importer and distributor IG International has announced the arrival of the season’s first batch of Royal Gala apples from New Zealand, imported through its association with Te Mata Exports, a privately-owned export house in New Zealand.

IG International director Tarun Arora said that the company had been encouraged by the enthusiasm of Indian consumers toward Royal Gala.

New Zealand Royal Gala apples are known for their sweet crunchy flesh and robust exterior, the company stated.

“Keeping in mind the year on year demand for these apples, we have always been in the front line to make the season’s first arrival of Royal Gala apples available in the Indian market,” he said. “We are confident that fruit lovers will enjoy the sweetness of this gorgeous fruit this year as well.”

Ramlingha Rajoo, head of fresh at retail chain Star Bazaar, a joint venture between Tata and Tesco Enterprise, commented: “Royal Gala has always been a favourite of our consumers along with Red Delicious. We are happy to have this product on our shelves and are looking forward to an increase in the sales numbers with this Gala.”
