Enzafruit Continent. the Belgium-based mainland European marketing office for New Zealand fresh produce company T&G Global, has kicked off the new import season for NZ apples with the sale of its ten millionth carton.

The Enzafruit team, including managing director Tony Fisette, general sales manager Didier Groven and sales and marketing manager Greta Knapen, said they were proud of the achievement, which had come as a result of an expanded production base in Europe that had been able to satisfy growing demand in different markets.

“We were able to achieve this memorable volume thanks to the sale of French, Italian, German and of course New Zealand Jazz apples,” they commented. “The new crop of Jazz apples is again top quality this season – nicely coloured, juicy and crunchy.”

During the past few years, Jazz has seen strong growth especially in the French market, where Enzafruit now runs a marketing company called Fruitenz in partnership with French growers.

In the UK, Jazz recently overtook Cox to become the country’s fifth-most popular apple, growing its retail sales to an all-time high of £46.5m.

Kantar data revealed that consumer spending on Jazz in the 52 weeks to 25 March 2018 rose from £42.17m to £46.47m, contributing to a 39.7 per cent sales rise over the previous three years.

A brand refresh prior to Fruit Logistica 2017 saw changes to Jazz’s packaging, promotion and global digital platforms.
