Harald Abendroth, one of three managing directors at Greenyard Fresh Germany, has left the company with immediate effect, Germany produce trade weekly Fruchthandel has reported.

Abendroth was appointed to the role in June last year following the departure of Lars Wagener, the group's managing director for the German market. He had previously spent a year as the division's finance director.

Wagener himself succeeded long-serving MD Thomas Averhoff at the beginning of 2017, assuming responsibility for Univeg Germany, Univeg Trade Spain, Univeg Trade Italy, Univeg Trade Benelux and Univeg Flower Trade, as well as maintaining the division’s focus on supplying and serving fresh produce buyers Germany and Austria.

Since Abendroth began running Greenyard's German business, he has been joined by two additional directors.

At the end of July 2018, Reiner Scheidler was named as managing director alongside Abendroth, taking on responsibility for sales, sourcing and marketing.

Scheidler had previously worked for five years as managing director of Greenyard Fresh Austria, a role he has retained, and key account director at Greenyard Fresh Germany.

Then in October, another managing director, Juan Carlos Sanchez, was handed responsibility for supply chain management and distribution centres.

Fruitnet understands the management of Greenyard Fresh Germany will now be shared by Sanchez and Scheidler.
