Clementines from the Mediterranean island of Corsica are due to be available in French stores from 3 November.
Corsica’s 135 clementine producers anticipate a production volume of 18,000-20,000 tonnes this year, and the fruit should be on shelves until mid-January.
Corsican clementines have official protection through a Protected Geographical Indication, which means that the fruits must be harvested by hand and must be picked only when they reach their optimum colour and maturity on the tree.
