Super-Sol, the largest supermarket chain in Israel, has reported that year-on-year net profit more than doubled during the third quarter period.

The group said that net profit hit NIS59m (€12m) during the period, up from NIS24m (€5m) or NIS0.12 per share in 2007. Revenue jumped to NIS2.89bn (€602.4m) from NIS2.56bn (€533.6m) last year.

The company attributed the profit boost to a rise in prices and the opening of a number of new stores through the quarter.

A dividend of NIS108m (€22.5m) would be distributed as a result, Super-Sol said.
