Consumer trends are top of the agenda at Fresh Produce India, which returns on 22 April with a high-quality programme of live interviews, discussions and presentations.

How is India’s diverse consumer market evolving? How is digital reshaping food retail? What are the opportunities for fresh produce? On-hand to answer these questions is Dipayan Baishya, head of strategy and communication at Future Group and co-author of the best-selling business book, It Happened in India.

In the opening session to Fresh Produce India, Baishya shares his expert insights on how digital is shaping food retail, and he outlines the opportunities to build new categories in the modern retail channel.

B2C marketing: the fresh trend

India’s leading fresh produce suppliers and marketers are increasingly marketing their fruits direct to consumers. Fresh Produce India explores the B2C marketing trend through a series of case studies.

Manav Suri and Rahul Dey of Suri Agro Fresh explain the relaunch of the importer-distributor’s Enjoy brand as a consumer-facing healthy lifestyle brand. They also talk about the group’s market development initiatives with both traditional and modern retail sectors in India.

Rockit Global partnered with Suri Agro to launch its miniature apple in India last year. General manager of global sales, Mark Pay, outlines Rockit’s plans in the Indian market and explains the value of its global brand ambassador partnership with New Zealand cricket captain Kane Williamson (pictured below), who plays for Indian Premier League team, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Healthy snacking is a clear trend among consumers in India. Jan Doldersum and Ajit Bisoi of Rijk Zwaan discuss the recent launch of the seed breeder’s new Sn!bs range of snacking vegetables at Spar stores in India together with Spar India’s head of fresh fruit and vegetables, Venkatareddy TG.

Fresh Produce India broadcasts live on 22 April from 13:00-17:40hrs India Standard Time. India’s premier fresh produce event became the first in the world to go online last April, with more than 650 global decision-makers tuning in live.
