Atlanta AG, one of the most famous names in the European fresh produce business and for many years a subsidiary of global fresh produce marketer Chiquita, has been renamed Univeg Germany following its recent takeover by Belgium-based supplier Univeg.
The company's branch network, including its headquarters in Bremen and service centres across Germany, will now carry the Univeg name.
The group's Austrian company Ahorner will retain its current name.
Univeg and Chiquita confirmed the €65m (US$92m) sale of Atlanta AG to Univeg in late August, following approval by the European competition authority.
The company is currently being administered by Univeg CEO Hein Deprez, Erik Vanderhaegen (representative of the Univeggroup) and Mark Hoenike (partner at Allen & Overy).
Chiquita previously confirmed that the deal included a long-termagreement whereby Atlanta will continue to serve as Chiquita'spreferred supplier of banana ripening and distribution services inGermany, Austria and Denmark.
