Agrexco strawberry

This week, the first deliveries of Agrexco’s strawberries are due to arrive in Europe, the company has announced. The season will continue until the end of March 2009.

According to Agrexco, all the company’s strawberries will be transported by sea, as part of its environmental policy of using “green ships” instead of planes.

Product manager Yehuda Reichman said that, despite their delicacy, Agrexco’s strawberries are capable of reaching European markets in prime condition, “as if they were harvested a few hours ago”.

This year, export volumes are expected to increase by 28 per cent to reach 1,100 tonnes, the company revealed. The crop includes premium varieties such as Yuval and Orly, as well as volume-oriented varieties like Hadas, Tamar, Yael and Tamir.
