Fresh Conex

Following the successful debut last year of Freshconex, the international trade fair for fresh-cut convenience, the event is back in 2009 at the Berlin Exhibition grounds from 4-6 February offering a comprehensive overview of products and systems from the sector.

Organised in cooperation with Eurofruit Magazine and the United Fresh Produce Association, the Freshconex Business Forum will focus on the latest developments in the fresh-cut convenience market.

On the first day of the trade fair (4 February), the forum's focus will be on fresh-cut technologies. Massimo Bellotti from Nespak and Daniela Ascari from ABL Srl will present new packaging films, processing machinery and other packaging technology innovations, while Wilco Fauth from Food Technology Noord Oost and Jan van der Horst from Urschel International will preview the latest cutting equipment.

On Thursday (5 February) the spotlight shifts to highlight optimal marketing for fresh-cut products. Klaus Klische from the Fresh Factory, Paddy Callaghan from Nature's Best Limited and Andrew Jones from Flamingo Holdings will discuss opportunities and options for promoting fresh-cut salads, fruits and vegetables.

Better logistics management for fresh-cut produce will be the key theme on day 3 of the trade fair (6 February). Greg Wohlleb from BUNZL Distribution, Teri Johnson from Key Technology and Giancarlo Colelli from the University of Foggia will discuss new techniques for improving inbound logistics management, quality control and transport of fresh-cut produce to retailers.

Freshconex 2009 takes place in conjunction with Fruit Logistica, the leading international trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing. The Freshconex Congress takes place on 3 February, the day before the exhibition opens, with top-notch guest speakers focusing on themes ranging from fresh-cut convenience trends in southern Europe to the role science plays in the development of fresh-cut products.
