Tesco appoints new finance director

Tesco has announced the appointment of Laurie McIlwee as its new group finance director, with immediate effect.

Mr McIlwee, formerly the UK-based retail group’s distribution director, takes the place of Andrew Higginson, who has moved to become Tesco’s chief executive of retailing services.

Commenting on the appointment, Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy said: “I am delighted that Laurie is joining the Tesco Board. His appointment is a great example of the strong internal talent coming through the business at every level.”
