Leading UK fresh produce supplier Fresca Group has officially begun work on a new 91ha advanced greenhouse complex on the Isle of Thanet in Kent, southern England.

The site, named Thanet Earth, boasts the latest in efficient hydroponic growing techniques and is expected to become the UK’s leading centre for developing new varieties, at a cost of €112m.

Three Dutch producers, Rainbow Growers, Red Star Growers and A&A, are partnering Fresca in the project, focusing on peppers, speciality tomatoes and cucumbers respectively.
