The British Tomato Association, which represents over 90 per cent of commercial tomato growers in the UK, has revealed that fresh produce supplier The Greenery UK has become the latest group to join the organisation.

The Association aims to create a clear identity for high quality domestically grown tomatoes in the UK, while also providing assurances to consumers that products are environmentally sound while championing the product's health benefits.

'Announcing our membership as British Tomato Week kicks off (18-24 May) seems ideal timing,' said Richard Marsh, manager of grower relations at The Greenery UK. 'We work with many growers in the UK and hope that we can contribute as well as benefit from the group. As a grower-owned, customer-focused organisation, The Greenery is well-placed to bridge the gap between producers and consumers.'

Nigel Bartle, chairman of the British Tomato Growers' Association, welcomed the addition of The Greenery to the organisation.

'We are extremely pleased that The Greenery UK has signed up as a member of the association and hope that they benefit from interaction with the UK growers,' he said.
