In a bid to expand its presence in the Russian retail market, German retailer Rewe’s Billa chain has purchased the Grossmart chain, which operates over 150 stores in Russia, from MARTA Holding.
Rewe Group currently has a total of 21 outlets in Russia, with sales totalling €128m in 2006.
The group's total turnover in 2006 was around €43.5bn in 14 countries.
