Carrefour sales up but income growth marginal

Despite a 6.8 per cent increase in full-year sales for 2007, the French retail giant's annual net income rose by just 1.4 per cent

At its annual shareholder meeting, Carrefour has announced net sales growth of 6.8 per cent to €82.1bn for 2007, with net income increasing by 1.4 per cent to €2.3bn.

Domestic sales rose by 1.1 per cent, with operations in the rest of Europe reporting growth of 6.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, Carrefour has been ranked second in Interbrand’s list of Europe’s Top Performing Retail Brands for 2008, released during the World Retail Congress in Barcelona.
