International fresh produce industry trade fair Macfrut, which takes place on 7-9 October 2009 in Cesena, Italy, will this year play host to the first ever European Fruit Summit, a new conference event involving speakers from around the world and looking in detail at the future prospects of the fresh produce trade in Europe.
Organised by Macfrut and CSO, and sponsored by the Emilia Romagna Region, the summit is due to take place on 6 October, a day prior to the start of the trade show, at the Cesena fair ground.
The meeting will comprise two panel sessions: one will discuss the various aspects of the summer fruit campaign in Europe, looking at the marketing of fruits including strawberries, peaches and nectarines; while a second will focus on forecast European production of winter fruit, such as apples, pears, kiwifruit and citrus.
The conference moderator will be Chris White, managing director of Eurofruit Magazine, with a number of speakers from Spain, France, Belgium, Italy and New Zealand.
