Agrexco mangoes

Leading Israeli exporter Agrexco has revealed that its mango export season is just around the corner, with the first shipments of the season set for mid-July.

Varieties headed for export markets include Tommy, Shelly, Kent, Lily, Keith and Maya, which are renowned for their taste and nutritional content, according to Agrexco.

'The export season will commence in July and continue to mid-October, with an expected 20 per cent increase in quantity – a total of 6,000 tonnes,' said Agrexco product manager Nissim Cohen.

The Sea of Galilee region is the location of 90 per cent of Agrexco's mango production, with fruit growers this year taking part in an experimental project to eliminate the threat of mango fruit fly by releasing sterile male flies into cultivation areas.
