Agrexco has announced that the first deliveries of its premium Bursa figs will be heading to markets in Europe today.
The Bursa is a Turkish variety grown in Lower Galilee, where the climate is ideal for its cultivation.
According to product manager Bezalel Madmon, 30 tonnes will be exported this season, the same volume as last season, to the UK and markets in central Europe.
The figs will reportedly be sold in 1kg cartons, as well as in punnets of four.
