Zeebrugge

Despite negative figures for the first four months of the year, container traffic at the Belgian port of Zeebrugge grew by 4 per cent in the first half of the year compared with the year-earlier period.

Container traffic accounted for 10.9m tonnes, thanks to a strong increase recorded in May and June, the port authority revealed, mainly of deep-sea traffic with Asia.

Ro-ro traffic reportedly dropped by 33.8 per cent to 4.2m tonnes.
