Organised by Eurofruit Magazine, the three-day event will take place at the NH Lord Charles Hotel which is located in the Cape Wineland’s area of Somerset West, only 30 minutes from the centre of Cape Town.
This year's Eurofruit Congress Southern Hemisphere focuses on the opportunities that await South African growers and exporters in the international marketplace.
The conference programme includes an analysis of Europe's retail discounting trend in food retailing, with insight from food retail insiders Edward Garner of TNS Worldpanel and Peter Durose of Poles Apart Consulting. Tesco's new strategy of direct sourcing will be outlined by Sandy Norman, the group's technical director.
We are also going to be looking at new opportunities for South Africa in fresh produce branding. European success stories from Luca Granata of Melinda, one of the world's largest apple suppliers, and Raquel Herce of the award-winning Spanish promotion agency Agr! Agro, will give delegates some important lessons for future success in the global arena.
The opportunities for supply chain innovation will also come under the spotlight at this year's congress. Dr Bettina von Stamm of the Innovation Leadership Forum will lead a special logistics session that includes Malcolm Dodd of the Fresh Produce Exporters Forum and Nosipho Damasane of the Transport Port Terminals.
