Israel-based fresh produce exporter Agrexco is preparing to offer ready-to-eat, pre-peeled and separated pomegranate arils, which will be made available in vacuum packaging next month.
Bezalel Madmon, product manager at Agrexco, said that the arils would be available to consumers in 100g-500g packets and to retailers in 1-2 tonne packaging. A total of 70 tonnes will be marketed this season, from September through to March 2010.
The fruit is being marketed as 'the perfect health snack', according to Agrexco, with its easy-to-handle format making it ideal for salads and garnishes.
'Ready-to-eat pomegranate arils are sweet, juicy, tasty and healthy, ideal for every purpose and every hour,' the group said in a statement.
