The market for ready-to-eat fruit and vegetables continues on an upward swing, with an increase in the number of single-person households, more meals taken away from home, changing eating habits and quick and easy availability all key factors in the rapidly growing demand for fresh products.

These trends will be clearly reflected at Freshconex 2010, where a strong demand for exhibition space has been registered. Following a successful debut in 2008, the international trade fair for fresh produce convenience will be taking place for the third time at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds on 3-5 February, where visitors will find an excellent overview of this rapidly developing market.

The exhibition area covers the entire sector, from fresh produce convenience products, processing technologies and special packaging to quality and safety. Registered exhibitors for the 'Fresh Convenience Products and Ingredients' segment include Bonatura (Switzerland), Hessing (Netherlands), Havita (Germany), Fructofresh (Poland) and Hefestus (Israel). In the 'Product Packaging and Processing Technology' segment, exhibitors include Multivac (Germany), Food Technology (Netherlands) and Turatti (Italy). Exhibitors specializing in 'Quality and Safety' include Best N.V. (Belgium), Raytec (Italy) and Agricoat (UK).

For the first time, Freshconex exhibitors will have the opportunity to participate in the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (FLIA). This award is presented for outstanding innovations in the fresh produce sector and associated service industries. The purpose is to recognise new products and services that have clearly added new momentum to the market. The competition is open to all companies exhibiting at Freshconex 2010 that have introduced an exceptional innovation to the market between 1 November 2008 and 31 October 2009.

The Freshconex Business Forum taking place each day focuses on the opportunities available to fresh produce convenience market players. Along with the latest industry themes, the forum offers an excellent chance to exchange information and to make new contacts with international trade professionals. Business Forum topics range from 'New technologies for fresh produce convenience', to 'Innovations in marketing for fresh produce convenience' and 'Improved logistics and distribution for fresh produce convenience'.

Organised by Messe Berlin, Freshconex offers the fast-paced market for fresh convenience products the only business and information platform in Europe with a special added benefit: Freshconex takes place parallel to Fruit Logistica, the world's leading trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing. Both of these trade events attract high-ranking decision makers from the fresh produce sector.
