Greenery sustainability 2008

Following the publication of its annual results earlier this year, Dutch fresh produce company The Greenery has published its sustainability report, in which it focuses on the achievements of the group and those of its growers in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) during the past year.

According to the report, entitled ‘Healthy is More’, The Greenery reduced the impact of its operations on the environment last year by lowering its CO2 emissions, as well as reducing the amount of water and electricity used by 9 per cent and 7 per cent respectively.

In addition, efficiency measures in logistics and at Dijco, The Greenery’s transport company, have reportedly resulted in a substantial reduction in fuel consumption.

A series of projects, meanwhile, have been set up worldwide as part of the company's Food Chain Partnership with Bayer CropScience in order to enhance the sustainability of its crop protection systems.
